Windows 8 Consumer Preview

3/6/2012

Last week, Microsoft launched a Consumer Preview to give the public an opportunity to test drive their latest platform.  The follow-up to Windows 7 is scheduled to be available to the public sometime this year.  The platform is designed to respond to input from a touch screen, mouse, keyboard or pen.  The design appears to build on their Windows Phone 7 design, with a tile-based interface.

Reviews for the interface have run from excitement at the fun and innovative tiles to frustration at the unfamiliar lay-out, with most of the criticism arising from desktop users navigating the screen with a mouse and keyboard.  It may be this platform is better suited for touch screen devices.  What's your opinion?
